  2. The main ideas expressed by the writer:

One of the main reasons is talking about the environment as he said "Even in rural areas and in disadvantaged environments, you see a remarkable performance". Poverty is being mentioned as it talks about the idea that youngsters are competing in a global economy, which is a terrible thing to take away not even in a global perspective way.

The writer is using descriptive ways to interpret what he wants to say also he gives a variety of reasons in each paragraph. He says when he went to China 'he saw that schools were often the most impressive buildings'.

The findings indicate that china has an education system which is overtaking many western countries. The writer is making good ideas in the paragraph, such as investments. The author gives global education rankings since he is giving facts.

  3. Hello Vinnay and Vivek. The article isn't about the physical environment but about education. You need to look at each section of the article and pick out the most important information. The headline and the first 5 (short) paragraphs give you a clue to what exactly the writer is saying.

Merits and chocolate for being the first two to do their homework anyways. :-)

  4. the main idea the writer is trying to get across is that chain is the worlds cleverest country no matter what economic problem they have the students still perform good in the exams "Even in rural areas and in disadvantaged environments, you see a remarkable performance." no matter what class their from (working class) they still perform strongly he said the test results showed the "resilience" of pupils to succeed despite tough backgrounds - and the "high levels of equity" between rich and poor pupils. "But what surprised me more were the results from poor provinces that came out really well. The levels of resilience are just incredible."
the main ideas are china is so deeply into education, the chinesse students do belive in luck or social heritage they work hard for the grades."In China, more than nine out of 10 children tell you: 'It depends on the effort I invest and I can succeed if I study hard.'"They take on responsibility. They can overcome obstacles and say 'I'm the owner of my own success', rather than blaming it on the system." also the have the best teachers in the toughest schools. the students work hard and challenge themselves to get good grades.

  5. The writer says that China's educational system is very good, and better than many Western and rich countries like USA, Japan or Germany. As he says, even in rural areas, students are performing well, which is quite rare for a developing country. This gives us the message that they are doing well.

It also says that most of their students have the willingness to learn - no matter about their luck or social heritage - and succeed which contributes to the country's economy.

the main ideas are that china is mainly into education, "In China, more than nine out of 10 children tell you: 'It depends on the effort I invest and I can succeed if I study hard.'"They take on responsibility. They can overcome obstacles and say 'I'm the owner of my own success', rather than blaming it on the system." this shows that the children are willing to work hard as they want a better and brighter future.

  8. the main idea being expressed by the writer is that the children of china are the most intelligent in the world. this is because they came top on the list of Pisa tests, an international test of the intelligence of 500,000 students from various countries. the article says that "China's results in international education tests - which have never been published - are "remarkable", says Andreas Schleicher, responsible for the highly-influential Pisa tests." this suggests that the results must have been very impressive.
